Application
The application phase for the Transparency Award ESG Reporting 2026 is officially open through 30 September 2026. Organisations of all size categories operating in Europe that have published a standalone ESG or sustainability report are invited to submit their report for the 2026 evaluation cycle.
Participation provides an independent, data-driven evaluation under the scientific Transparency Evaluation Standard (TES), benchmarking your non-financial disclosures against sector peers across Europe. Participation in the evaluation and benchmarking process is entirely free of charge. Organisations seeking to benchmark their disclosures outside the active award window may also submit their report for year-round evaluation.
For inquiries regarding submission guidelines, eligibility requirements, or the evaluation process, our ESG Research Team is available to assist you.

ESG Transparency Evaluation Standard
Based on more than 25 years of international research and analysis in the field of sustainability, EUPD Research has developed the ESG Transparency Evaluation Standard as a scientifically grounded framework for assessing ESG reporting. The standard draws on the most relevant European and international guidelines, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the Voluntary SME standard (VSME), as well as established global benchmarks and cross-industry best practices.
The ESG Transparency Evaluation Standard is structured into the clusters of Transparency, Environment, Social, Governance, and Compliance. Particular emphasis is placed on the transparency and accessibility of reporting, while also taking into account structure, content depth, double materiality analyses, impact, risk and opportunity management, and stakeholder relevance.
The weighting of criteria is determined through a comprehensive relevance analysis and is refined by the ESG Transparency Committee. This committee brings together leading experts and award-winning ESG practitioners to ensure that the evaluation reflects stakeholder expectations, regulatory requirements, and the realities of organizations of different sizes and sectors.

The evaluation of ESG reports is enhanced by an AI-supported analysis process that applies the ESG Transparency Evaluation Standard systematically across all submissions. This process is closely supervised and scientifically validated by EUPD Research’s data and sustainability specialists to ensure accuracy, reliability, and methodological integrity.
Algorithm
EUPD Research’s AI algorithms build on scientific methodology and 25 years of sustainability expertise. Trained on ESG reports, regulatory frameworks, and best practices, the system applies NLP, RAG, and semantic classification to identify ESG disclosures, align them with regulations, and cluster them into Transparency, Environment, Social, Governance, and Compliance. All processes comply with German and European legal standards and established data governance principles.
Data quality
EUPD Research maintains a continuous monitoring process for all data sources
used in the evaluation. Only verifiable, up-to-date, and relevant documents are included in
the training and analysis processes. Each new regulatory update (for example, amendments
to the CSRD or ESRS) is promptly incorporated into the system. The ongoing validation of
both data and sources ensures that the outputs are based on reliable and trustworthy
information, eliminating outdated or non-compliant references.
Ethics and bias
The AI analysis is continuously supervised by EUPD Research’s sustainability
and data specialists to ensure that results are free from distortion. The system is designed in
accordance with strict ethical standards, including the prevention of bias in data selection
and evaluation. Special attention is given to avoid overrepresenting specific industries,
regions, or reporting formats, ensuring that all participants are assessed on an equal and fair
basis. Compliance with European data protection regulations (including GDPR) is strictly
enforced throughout the process.
Validation of results
The outputs generated by the AI system are not taken at face value but
undergo a multi-stage quality assurance process. Each result is subject to accuracy checks
with a maximum tolerance of five percent deviation. Critical or borderline cases are manually
reviewed by EUPD Research experts, and in some cases cross-validated through a secondary
AI check. This layered approach guarantees both efficiency and reliability while maintaining
scientific credibility in the evaluation.
Interpretation of data
The verified results are further analyzed and interpreted by EUPD
Research specialists. Quantitative scoring is contextualized with qualitative insights to ensure
that each company’s reporting is classified fairly within its sector, size group, and country.
The outcome is an industry benchmark and a transparent classification that highlights both
strengths and potential gaps in ESG reporting. Participants receive a data-driven gap analysis
and actionable recommendations, providing a robust foundation for enhancing their
sustainability strategies and ensuring long-term comparability with peers.
